Beowulf: The Hero's Journey An epic hero is defined as, "a brave and noble character in an epic poem, admired for great achievements or affected by grand events" ("epic-hero"). Epic poems contain Epic similes. Two of the most famous epic poems are Beowulf and The Odyssey. The watchman gives his consent and tells Beowulf that he believes his story.
